Financial Transparency

Financial Transparency for 501(c)(3) organizations is vital for donor trust and mission success.  We make every effort to share how donor dollars are used, where they go, and the impact they have on the world.

When our Research Committee and Board of Directors evaluates funding proposals, we deeply and thoroughly vet the potential recipient, their program goals and objectives, and ensure there is close alignment with the values and mission goals of our organization.  Once funding is approved, there is a review process throughout the first year, and thereafter should a program or study be not yet completed or ongoing, and we ensure every dollar is tied to a result.  We seek to build relationships in the research community, and to support those who value our gifts and support just as much as we value our donors and those who make it all possible.

We are excited to share and highlight every step along the way throughout the year, and in our published annual report following the conclusion on our fiscal year.  Above that, we are proud to be independently reviewed and rated.

Two of the largest and most well known nonprofit rating organizations are GuideStar and Charity Navigator.

GuideStar

We are proud to hold a Platinum Transparency Seal with GuideStar, the highest level possible. Our rating details can be reviewed here: https://www.guidestar.org/profile/47-3495943

Charity Navigator

We are not rated with Charity Navigator because of our revenue size—only those with 3 years of available full 990 forms filed with the IRS are eligible, and Project Periwinkle files a 990-EZ form because of our annual revenue and overall assets.  According to the IRS, full 990s are to be completed by organizations with annual income equal to or greater than $200,000 and assets at year end equal to or greater than $500,000.  As we continue to grow, we look forward to meeting the 990 filing requirement and receiving a rating.

Any questions on financial transparency can be directed to our donor and community relations team at giving@projectperiwinkle.org
