Marketing Internship

Location: United States (Virtual); St. Louis, MO (Virtual)

Project Periwinkle is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of funding and advancing stomach cancer research programs.  Founded in 2015, we have helped to financially support nearly half a dozen cancer research and medical centers and their programs, across the U.S. focused on stomach cancer causes, early detection, treatment options, and quality of life, not just during the battle, but after. We have also strengthened awareness of the disease and brought attention to what so many families go through every day.

The Marketing Internship provides a valuable learning opportunity in marketing, business development and communications strategy, techniques and tactics within a nonprofit setting.  During this internship, interns will have the opportunity to assist our executive team with a wide range of projects including creating new marketing campaigns for social media, using data to drive strategy, email marketing, and engagement management.

Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to receive weekly mentoring through one on one meetings with organizational leadership.  

Pay: Unpaid.  All members of our organization are volunteers, including our leadership team, which enables us to give more to our mission.

Schedule

This internship will be virtual with the opportunity for some in person contact, and estimated 10 - 15 hours per week.  Days of the week, and start and end times for each day can be determined upon start to align with school and personal schedules.  All members of the organization volunteer their time to the organization and primarily hold evening hours.  Interns should be available at least one late afternoon or evening per week to accommodate check ins and mentoring sessions.

This internship is planned for the Fall 2021 semester (Aug -  Dec), with an option to extend into the spring.

Requirements

  • Completed coursework in English or writing classes, or proven success in these areas

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing or related field, or currently pursuing a graduate degree in Business.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Self-starter

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
